My Cousin Walker Visits

Hi there!

Last week was a busy week! On top of going back to school, I met my cousin Walker and my Aunt Sarah for the first time. Uncle Hudson and I met when I was a week or two old, but this is the first time that Sarah and Walker have visited from Hawaii. It was so nice to be with them! Walker is very sweet...he asked Mommy if I could "come downstairs (at Biggie and GinGin's) and play with him". And Mommy had to explain to him that I can't walk yet, so I can't chase him (but James and Ella sure did like chasing him and I liked to watch!). One day we went to a pumpkin patch and picked out our pumpkins. Walker liked to watch the pumpkins roll down the hill when someone accidently picked one up and another one rolled. He really liked pushing them down the hill! It was fun!

I was very glad to see Uncle Hudson, Aunt Sarah, and Walker. Hopefully we can see them again very soon! Not sure if Mommy and Daddy are up for a trip to Hawaii with me quite yet, but you never know...

I've posted a few pictures from the week. I hope you have a good night and a nice Monday!

Sweet dreams and much love,

Life as it should be...

Hi friends,

My goodness...it has been way too long! Things have been a little crazy over the past few weeks, but I think we are finally getting back to normal. You know, I'd like to say that during the past few weeks I was my usual happy self; however, I have just been down right grumpy. Yes, even I, the one with the chunky thighs and cheeks that loves to show that 2-toothed grin, have a snarly side. I have perfected the art of arching my back and screaming, all to communicate that I want to be left alone. In my defense, for almost 3 weeks, all I saw was the ceiling and walls of my house, my Mommy's face (Daddy's too), and Henry. At first, it was fun, but then I was ready for new people. When you're not feeling 100% (apparently the effects of croup can hang around for a while), it's hard to be cheery. Thankfully, though, I am now back to my happy self. I went to school yesterday and today and boy, have I missed my friends and my teachers!

I'll have more adventures to write about soon...my cousin Walker, my Aunt Sarah, and my Uncle Hudson were here for a visit!

Sweet dreams and much love,
MH

The Adventures Continue...

Hi my friends!

Well, I have another new adventure to tell you about. I got to visit the emergency room last night! Rest assured that I am fine now, but it got a little hard to breathe last night. I have had a bit of a stoppy nose and when Mommy came to check on me last night, she noticed that I was having a hard time catching my breath. While Daddy and I hung out in the bathroom with the shower on as hot as it would go (we learned later that standing in front of the freezer is more effective), Mommy called the nice nurse on call. When the nurse called back, she asked to listen to me, so Mommy put the phone up next to my mouth and I was grinning at the nurse. At the same time, Henry was giving me kisses and I was trying my best to talk to him, but he couldn't hear me because I have lost my voice. Well, the nurse told Mommy that we needed to take a field trip to Children's ER. So, off we went...

We arrived at about 10:30 PM and another nice nurse listened to my chest and they sent me into another room where this funny looking cuff squeezed my ankle; the new nurse checked my temperature; and my weight (18.48 lbs, with clothing). I then went to another room where Mommy and Daddy took me out of my pjs and put me in this lovely mint green hospital gown complete with ties in the back! Mommy was wishing that she had a camera...I looked pretty darn cute all the way down to my pink socks. The doctor was very sweet to me--she listened to my chest again while I grinned at her and anyone else who walked by. Despite not being able to breath and it being way past my bedtime, I was a happy girl!

In the end, I was diagnosed with the croup and was given some funky tasting medicine by mouth and then they had to give me a breathing treatment. Within a few minutes of the treatment, my breathing was better. They had us stay for 2 more hours just to make sure, but thankfully all was fine. After grinning at all my new friends one more time, it was time to go home around 2 AM. For a first time visit to Children's, it was a very good experience--everyone took very good care of us. And most importantly, they kept telling me how cute I am--so of course I'm going to be good; I had an audience! :)

We returned home to the Henry doggie and had a good but short night's sleep. I woke up this morning around 7:30 AM (a bit later than usual) and ate very well. I played in my Exersaucser and then on my quilt and then crashed for a nap. Mommy and Daddy seem a little tired this morning, but they say they are glad that I'm okay and now they know what to do.

As much as I love writing to you, I will be happy to get back to the more mundane things like my toys and my school activities, not infectious diseases. Oh well--I'm learning to like the adventure!

Have a good day!

Love,
MH

Whew...one busy girl!

My goodness! I have been a busy girl and therefore haven’t had much time to write to you. I hope that you are doing well!

Let’s see…where to begin. Well, I have officially had my first infectious disease. That’s right—I had the chicken pox. Mommy and I were at home all last week and I was with Daddy and GinGin yesterday and today (more on that later!) I had lots of polka dots on me, but Mommy and Daddy say that I was a trooper! I had a few moments of not feeling well, but for the most part, I was my usual happy self. My sleeping was a little different than usual, but I did learn that naps in my crib are not as horrible as I once thought. I even learned that Mommy could put me down in the crib and I could play for a while and fall asleep all by myself! I’m a big girl!

In addition to experience my first illness, I tasted cereal and apples. Yum! (As long as the cereal is mixed with apples, I can do it! Have you tasted that rice cereal stuff? I know it’s good for me!) Mommy also let me play with (and try to drink from) a sippy cup. That was pretty cool. I am sitting up very well and guess what I learned? I don’t have to stay on my back all the time. I can flip over to my tummy! Who knew??!!

Oh, and I have REALLY become interested in Henry. I was sitting on Mommy and Daddy’s bed and saw Henry in the doorway…ahhhhh….he’s so pretty! (Mommy’s commentary: An actual sigh of glee came out of the child’s mouth. The dog’s life as he knows it is about to come to an abrupt end.) I want him…to pet him, to dive for him, to be licked by him, to grab him. My best buddy…

Also, I mentioned earlier that I spent some time with Daddy and GinGin. Of course I do spend time with them, but this was different. Mommy had to go to Tampa to do some thing for work (VERY difficult for Mommy). I got to stay with GinGin on Monday for some of the day and then Daddy and I spent last night and this morning together. I had Daddy and Henry all to myself. Unfortunately (for Daddy) I didn’t sleep as well as I usually do. Daddy had to get up quite a few times to check on me, so he was very sleepy today. Sorry, Daddy; I just love your face too much not to see it whenever I can! Mommy is home tonight—hopefully Daddy can get some sleep.

Well, between being sick, eating food, sitting up, rolling over, and having my first slumber party with Daddy and Henry, it has been a pretty eventful week and a half. Oh, one more thing, I think I’m getting more teeth on top! :) So busy…

I'll make a separate post with a video of me in my highchair and with my food!

Much love and sweet dreams!
