Hi my friends!
In one month I will celebrate my first birthday! I am very excited. Although once again I'm a little under the weather. I posted last week that I was going to the doctor because of my ears. Ears were a little less than OK, but Dr. Hodges wanted to wait. Fast-forward to Monday morning (after a very fun sleepover at Biggie and GinGin's-more later!) and I wasn't any better so I got some new medicine. After 4 doses of a coconut-ty/strawberry tasting antibiotic (Daddy seems to think it might be a good base for a fruity rum drink), I had to go back to the doctor again today.
During my time at the doctor's office, I had my finger pricked twice because I was busy looking at all the pictures of children on the wall in the lab and was so calm that the blood was flowing too slowly and clotting too fast to make it into the little tube. No tears, just interest in all the pictures! Then I returned to my room where Daddy held me and Mommy kept putting this little mask over my face. They kept saying it was going to help me breathe...well, I was breathing alright. Remember the two finger sticks? Blood started flowing pretty darn quickly...the lab lady could have gotten a couple of little tubes. And finally after I had been insulted with the breathing treatment (because of a bit of wheezing in one of my lungs), I had to get a shot. And will have to go back tomorrow and Sunday to get more. You will be happy to know that I am able to use "bye-bye" in the right context...I started saying it about 30 minutes into the visit and continued to lunge for the door.
So as you might imagine after my long morning, I am tired and am taking a good long nap. Hence the reason my scribe is posting in the middle of the day. Mommy is tired; Daddy is tired; even Henry is tired. HOWEVER, we are hopeful that life will be returning to normal (whatever that is) soon.
I'll post some more happy stuff soon. I'll tell you all about my spend-the-night party with Biggie, GinGin, and Rascal as well as my new joy of feeding Henry.
Much love and sweet dreams,
MH
Life according to me. I was born on April 27, 2008 and have many things to say. My parents blogged about me before I was born and right after I arrived. I feel that the time has come for me to say it directly to you. I feel sure my parents will have something to say every now and then.

My new tricks...

Hi friends,
I hope you are doing well!
It has been a little while since my last post. Lots to tell you...
On Saturday, I officially pulled up for the first time. I had been so close a couple of times, but you'll be happy to know that I am now able to reach the top shelf of my bookcase quite effectively. Pulling off the books is so much easier now!
I have a few words (Mommy's commentary: not sure if you can call them words or not, but they sure do sound similar...). "Da-da", "bye", "woof". All very fun! I like to look out our front window and "bark" at the dogs across the street. When Mommy dropped me off at school the other morning, I waved at her and said "bye" (Mommy's commentary: She is now ready for me to leave and dives for her teacher!)
Hugs are very big now...I like to give them to my baby doll. I give her kisses too...big open-mouth ones! I like to give those to Mommy, Daddy, Henry, and myself in mirrors and pictures. There is a picture of me on the fridge and I like to give it kisses every morning.
Speaking of fridges, I love food. Haven't really met many foods that I don't enjoy! Grilled cheese and green peas are my favorites! I have tried avocados, hamburger, nutri-grain bars, spaghetti--all good! On Sunday we ate lunch with Biggie and GinGin and the Sweeneys at California Pizza Kitchen. I ate 3/4 of a cheese pizza along with some peaches and butternut squash. OK, so the flavors don't mesh well...my palate is still developing!
The one bump is that I'm still having some trouble with my ears. At least that is what Mommy and Daddy are hoping. Otherwise I have become quite fond of pitching fits when they lay me on the changing table and waking up randomly at odd hours of the night! I'm going to go visit with Dr. Hodges tomorrow. Will keep you posted.
Despite the ears, I'm still having fun! The picture above is right after I had finished dancing while kneeling...naked...can it get any better than that? Oh, and that is a bumble bee on my bottom. I am making Mommy, Daddy, and Henry realize that they are going to be tired for a long time. I don't think they mind too much, though! We're all having a great time.
Sweet dreams and much love,
MH

Snow Day and My Ears, Part 563

Hi there!
I hope you are doing well! Things here are pretty good. We had a very pretty snowfall on Sunday morning. Because I like to wake up so early, we were able to get outside as it was coming down. As you can tell from the picture, it was not as thrilling as it might one day be. Although Mommy decided tonight that the lack of enthusiasm could be due to the fact that my bunny hat is getting a little snug...oh well! It's all about the look, right? Henry and I preferred being nice and snuggly inside and just admiring the pretty snow from the window. About Henry--he likes the cold weather but wet stuff is not really his thing. He gave Mommy a very dirty look the first time his foot hit it. Hopefully I won't be quite as high maintenance as Henry.
As for my ears, well, we had to make another trip back to see the ENT yesterday. I seem to be one of those overachievers in the ear-goo producing departments (for those of you with weak stomachs, my apologies!). Over the weekend I was doing OK but Mommy and Daddy weren't convinced that I was 100% and I wasn't. Dr. Goodson had to get out his little magic wand again and this time, thankfully, it seemed to work. With the combination of his magic wand and some new drop, no ear issues to report today! I go back tomorrow to see him again...will let you know.
On a slightly different note, have I mentioned that I changed classrooms at school? Of course I was very sad to leave my friends and my wonderful teachers, Mrs. Shon and Mrs. Paula, but I am doing great in my new class! My new friends crawl and walk and play (Mommy's commentary: apparently there is some pretty serious playing going on...I was told today that MH can "hold her own because she hits back"! Yikes!! I don't think they literally meant "hit"; at least I hope not!). I even took a 1 hr 45 minute nap today--the longest in my school history! All the other kids are on the same schedule I had been putting myself on, interesting, huh? We eat, play, sleep, play, eat, play, eat, play...it's great!! I'm a master at the sippy cup now, so life is good in the eating and drinking department.
OK, it's time for me to go night-night (actually for my scribe to go night-night; I've been asleep for almost 3 hours!)!
Sweet dreams and much love,
MH

In this picture, I have just finished spitting my lunch on Mommy! Fun times for all!
